Prepare to Apply Online – Prospective Students – Library Science (MLIS) – Information School – University of Washington

Write a short essay (no more than 250 words) on the following scenario: A friend says to you, “What do we need information professionals for? Isn’t everything on the Internet?” How do you respond?

Its because everything is on the Internet that you need information professionals!!! Information professionals that help you decide if whatever you find is of minimal quality for your requirements. We used to do that beforehand by choosing the library collection, before you even had the information need. Now you have to do it after you have found the information that seems to be of interest.

The safe attitude before was to trust the library. The safe attitude now is “trust no one and trust nothing” (because its easier to spot the truth if you believe everything is a lie than to spot a lie if you believe everything to be true (Victor Herrero Solana axiom))

PS: será que me aceitam?
